A local artist and her husband desired a garden with the appeal of an impressionistic painting. The house was a post modern style with ten foot tall weeds that once removed, revealed an unobstructed view of the Santa Monica Bay. We transformed this hilltop garden to respond to the movement of the wind and warmth of the sun. Grasses, lavender, California poppies, along with other drought tolerant, low-maintenance, Mediterranean plants were used to provide a habitat for attracting hummingbirds and bees. The custom water features and natural stone walkways of the property now conjure the perfect setting for relaxing with a glass of wine and taking in the bird’s-eye views.
